Testimonies

Greek Ambassador Konstantina Kotsi
Head teacher of 6th Aghioi Anargyroi Elementary School
Athens, Greece

"I think the peer support scheme is quite applicable in Primary Education in Greece as it facilitates children not only support their peers that face bullying but most importantly take action in changing the culture of their school towards bullying. The only drawback is the implementation of the programme, in the way it has been planned, in Greek Primary schools as it will be difficult to train a small group of pupils at school while the others attend their regular classes since it is against the law. A whole class could be trained instead, divided into groups, one group being the supporters and the other groups taking other roles e.g. art group, drama group helping with the dissemination activities. The programme is very well structured, the sessions are planned in detail and, therefore, are teacher-friendly. The parent pack is excellent and it will be really helpful to parents who are very often wrongly informed and as a result they overreact."

Feedback on SEL Lesson 9 from a Greek teacher taking part in the ENABLE project
(received during a focus group session)

"Εφαρμόσιμο, επεξηγηματικό, πυκνό σε περιεχόμενο, χρειάζεται περισσότερος χρόνος από τον προτεινόμενο από 1 διδακτική ώρα, ανησυχίες για πιθανές αντιδράσεις από γονείς, διευθυντές. Καθοριστικός ο ρόλος του διευθυντή και του συλλόγου γονέων."
